Special Thanks...

“It takes money to make money,” as the saying goes, and this is certainly true with fundraising events since expenses typically make a significant dent in proceeds and, therefore, in the event’s ability to benefit its worthy cause. Yet thanks to underwriting support from Oppenheimer, Inc., all costs for the Summa Children’s Foundation’s inaugural gala were covered—which meant that all funds raised that evening could truly benefit the community.

For this, the Summa Children’s Foundation owes a debt of gratitude to Rick Wiseley, managing director of Oppenheimer’s Western Region, who shared his belief in SCF’s mission with Oppenheimer Chairman Albert “Bud” Lowenthal, who subsequently joined forces with the Summa Group to co-underwrite the gala. SCF is also grateful to the New-York based Lowenthal and his wife, Carol, for flying cross country to attend the event, bringing with them several Oppenheimer colleagues and enthusiasm aplenty.

Three thousand miles may separate the East and West Coasts, but Lowenthal’s and Wiseley’s commitment to giving back to the Los Angeles community makes it clear that generosity bridges distance in a very special way.
